DNA BARCODING Single-Species Identification single-species identification using genetic analysis based on tissue sample. Read More Get a Quote DNA Barcoding DNA Barcoding is a method of species identification using a short section of DNA from a specific gene or genes. Different gene regions are used to identify the different organismal groups using barcoding. The most commonly used barcode region for animals is a portion of the COI gene, ITS rRNA used for fungi, RuBisCo used for plants, 16s rRNA used for prokaryotes, and 18s rRNA used for microbial eukaryotes. Application for Species Identification Specific short DNA sequences or markers from a standardized region of the genome can provide a DNA barcode for identifying species. Molecular methods are especially useful when traditional methods are not applicable. DNA barcoding has great applicability in identification of larvae for which there are generally few diagnostic characters available, and in association of different life stages in animals. Identification of species listed in the convention of the international trade of endangered species (CITES) appendixes using barcoding techniques is used in illegal trade monitoring. Exploring Biodiversity A reliable partner to cooperate with on innovative research ideas on exploring biodiversity READ MORE Exploring Biodiversity Oceanogen was developed by considering Indonesia as a center of biodiversity both land and sea which host mammals, birds, corals, fish, and many organisms. Our research focuses on discovering biodiversity by using comprehensive method. Nowadays we are morely using molecular approach based on the DNA traces to aim the goals. DISCOVER Revealing Biodiversity Species Identify Marine and terrestrial creatures are the main aims of biodiversity assessment. Determining the species or species identification nowadays could be conducted using many approaches. However, misleading species identification could bring an underestimate of biodiversity value. eDNA metabarcoding is a method of assessing biodiversity from samples taken from environmental samples. Not only one species, but many of them could be detected. Detection Accurate Species identification based on DNA provides a high level of certainty in determining the exact species of organisms. The high sensitivity of eDNA metabarcoding approach was proven by many scientists around the world. A multi-sampling technique enables species detection in all habitats, even at low densities. Since the environment may preserve the molecular fingerprint of inhabited species, our technique helps for the accurate identification of secretive creatures in the environment without direct observation. Distribution Encounter The evaluation of species distribution is a vital initial step in biodiversity research and is required by several disciplines including biogeography, conservation biology, and ecology. Revealing a large number of marine and/or terrestrial creatures with an accurate and efficient eDNA metabarcoding approach and then having the distribution by knowing the presence and absence of specific species or entire communities bring the evaluation of species distribution at its best. Why using DNA? High Detection Perform eDNA metabarcoding approach outperforms conventional methods for species detection. There have already been numerous studies in which a species was detected using the eDNA technique when traditional methods failed to detect the species. A growing amount of evidence shows that this method outperforms electrofishing, snorkeling, and other popular field techniques in terms of species detection and catch-per-unit effort. Therefore, using eDNA to identify species may help biodiversity assessments and provide details on the status and distribution. Applicable Broadly One of the most pressing issues of the twenty-first century is the continued reduction of biodiversity. High environmental change in biodiverse tropical regions need effective biomonitoring programs. eDNA has recently arisen as an alternate way to established measurements of species diversity and community composition, which rely on encounter-based survey data. eDNA metabarcoding analysis is a useful approach for fast and affordably discovering creatures that would otherwise be difficult to monitor. Efficient More It takes much less time to collect water samples than it does to conduct a traditional survey. Unlike conventional methods, eDNA sampling only requires less person to collect just eDNA samples. As a result, the costs associated with taking and analyzing a water sample are less than those of conventional surveying methods with comparing about the time of observation and logistic needs. Detecting number of species can be no more challenging and time-consuming, particularly if the targeting specific organism groups using eDNA. "As a start up company, we learned how to connected knowledge and technology as a prestige part of biomonitoring to our dynamic ocean. Knowing the species and its diverse brings a valuable information to our mega biodiversity country." Dr. rer. nat. METABARCODING Multi-Species Identification the large-scale taxonomic identification of complex (environmental) samples. Read More Get a Quote Metabarcoding Metabarcoding is a technique of species identification using DNA/RNA from several different organisms can be extracted from either bulk samples or environmental samples. DNA collected from environmental samples is used for environmental DNA analysis. eDNA includes DNA analysis using metabarcoding methods to assess the biodiversity of environmental samples. Barcoding and Metabarcoding The Difference of The main difference between barcoding and metabarcoding is that metabarcoding does not focus on one specific organism , but instead aims to determine species composition within a sample. Differences in the standard methods for DNA barcoding and metabarcoding. While DNA barcoding focuses on a specific species, metabarcoding examines whole communities. Application of Metabarcoding Metabarcoding can be used to reconstruct ancient ecosystems from DNA found throughout the world, to explore the interconnectness between plants and pollinators, to assess diet without need for feeding observation or stomach flushing, to detect invasive species before they could possibly be detected via traditional means, to determine community responses to pollution, and even to assess air quality and its implications for human health.
